They must also not live in an institution that could prevent them from accessing healthcare.

Covering Alabama Kids

Covering Alabama Kids is a program that assists children in Alabama to get the care they need. It is designed to help children identify themselves, simplify the application process, and coordinate between programs. To identify and remove barriers to enrollment and eligibility, the program collaborates with local site coordinators. It also assists children in becoming healthy adults.

Children who are eligible to receive ALL Kids health insurance will be able to get low-cost healthcare coverage. Benefits include doctor visits, immunizations, and other preventive measures. It also covers prescriptions, eyeglasses, and dental care. ALL Kids offers special services for children with special requirements in certain cases.

Quality measures

Quality measures are indicators of quality in the health care children receive in a given state. These measures can be used to monitor improvements in state programs. Alabama saw improvements in its teen birth rate, the percent of high school-aged teens not attending school and the death rates for children aged one through 14. Unfortunately, Alabama's gains were offset by declining trends in five quality measures. These measures include the percentage children in poverty and single-parent households as well as the infant death rate.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services recently announced a new funding opportunity that will support the development and expansion of quality measures. The new program will involve the collaboration of state governments, federally-qualified health centers, as well as other organizations. These partners will conduct a baseline evaluation, an ongoing analysis, and pre and post-financial analyses. These community network pilots have two main outcomes that are of importance to them: improved health outcomes and patient happiness, and Medicaid cost control. Particular measures will be taken to address asthma, diabetes, immunization, and other issues.

Enrollment

Benefits offered through ALL Kids include regular doctor visits, immunizations, prescription drugs, dental and vision care, hospitalization, and mental health and substance abuse services. It relies on the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama for its network.

All Kids Alabama serves approximately 2.4 Million children. This is the highest number in the South. In 1998, approximately 20% of Alabama's children did not have any health insurance. The program was launched. This is a great success for the state. The program has been so popular that it has even become a campaign issue for Senator-elect Doug Jones. He has called on Congress to pass legislation funding CHIP before the end of the year so that the program can continue to serve Alabama families.

Renewal rates

The State of Alabama reports that approximately 3 percent of children are uninsured. They may have changed insurance companies, or their parents forgot to renew their coverage. Fortunately, there are ways to help keep the numbers as low as possible. To start, you can call the customer service line at 1-888-373-KIDS (5437) Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4:30pm.

Firstly, to renew your coverage, you must pay the previous year's premium. You can pay this online at the ALL Kids site, but it will take 24 hours to process your payment. Renewal will be denied if you fail to pay.
